Birth Control Advice?

I've never used birth control (a personal choice). But my boyfriend is afraid of having kids right now, so it's either birth control or he gets a vasectomy. I'm interested in alternatives to the pill. Does anybody have advice on NuvaRing, ParaGard, or anything similar to that? I'm wary of taking a pill because of the high dose of hormones. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated as I'm going to my gyno tomorrow! Thanks!
