Do Christians today have some misguided idea that the first Christians were actually quasi capitalists?

You ar misguided in that the first Christians were under fierce persecution. They lost their jobs and in some cases their homes. Today in America we have an ordered, semi-communist economy so the pulling together we read in Acts chapter is largely unnecessary. We are also encouraged to stay put in current cirstance when salvation occurs. You are criticizing that which you neither understand nor believe, and have failed miserably.
