Why are people making up fake quotes to make Limbaugh look bad?

It just seems so stupid to fabricate quotes about Limbaugh defending slavery, which he never did. If they want to attack the guy, use real quotes, like his stuff about Donovan McNabb or something. To falsely slander someone is far worse than anything he has ever said.
