What should I say to my clmate? ?
Victims of abuse are usually reluctant to 'talk' for one of two reasons: either out of fear for their safety or (strange as it may sound) out of 'love' for their abuser (feeling that they will 'loose' them if they report them). In either case it's sort of a 'brainwash'..."I'll kill/hurt you worse if you tell!" or "I'll stop loving you & leave you so you'll be all alone 'cause you'll NEVER find anyone else like me!" (Verbal/emotional/mental abuse are all precursors & part of physical abuse). The best thing you can do is to try to "un-brainwash" her (which won't be easy 'cause 1st she needs to ADMIT the abuse & THEN accept that what YOU'RE TELLING her is the truth, not what HE'S SAYING) and that's just a matter of time & gaining her trust. Just stick with it...even at risk of jeopardizing you're friendship & having her say, "Mind your own effin' business!" Just remember: her safety & well being comes first & someday she'll thank you for saving/rescuing her. Good Luck!
