Christians & politics question, Why do the extremely devout support McCain in his bid for the Presidency?

Why do people act as if McCain was the only POW to suffer, some didn't get to come home at all. There were even some POW's held much longer then he was. Really as if being a POW makes all wrongs right for him. He also does not support the troops once they get home. Like the education issue, mental health care, and so on. We have thousands of Vets on the streets and no one seems to cut them any slack. In fact we try not to notice them. He should use some of the money he left his first wife for, and help those that are suffering now and killing themselves over a war we should never have started. We must win no matter how many lives it costs us or how much money, and the surge is working. There would have been no need for the surge if we had not gone to war over Oil. Plus McCain has stated on many interviews when caught in lies about issues "I guess it was my political ambition that made me say that". Through the ages to this date, people like him have put their ambitions before God and Country. The sad part is for all his talk he had to find a woman to fight for him, a self described lipstick wearing Pit Bull. When asked about her over shadowing him, his staff said "We'll take it anyway we can get it". Same mind set as he has with the war, win at any cost.
