Newly found Asteroid?

Look at the moon. It is heavily pockmarked by impacts to all of it's parts. The Earth had the same bombardment but plate tectonics have erased most of the evidence. A new asteroid might or might not disintegrate before hitting the Earth depending on its makeup and the atmosphere's heating effect. Where would it impact? It could be anywhere. The period of heavy bombardment is way behind us, thank God.
